The brakes on the car started leaking on Tuesday. I took it to the garage yesterday and was told they needed to be replaced, for a total cost of about $675.00. I have no savings, and just under $1,000.00 available on one credit card, so I'll be using that to pay the bill. But the good news is that overtime is available for the next two weeks, so I have the opportunity to earn that extra money and not get further into debt. Six months ago I would have had to use money that is set aside for credit card payments to pay the repair bill and gone over 30 days late in making my monthly payments, but today I am thankful for the chance to work a few extra hours and pay this bill immediately.
I also have progressed emotionally. An unexpected expense like this would have thrown me into a panic attack, followed by days or weeks of depression. Today I am accepting the situation, doing the work that I need to do and moving on. I will post when I have paid this bill in full.
